Dolly-Parton

born on January. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life through her vivid and expansive imagination. Her songs were written before she was able to write or read. After getting her first instrument at age of 8, she began performing on local radio stations from Knoxville, Tennessee. She recorded her first album within the same calendar year with Gold Band Records, a small independent label. In high school she established herself locally but dreamed about having a bigger stage. When she graduated from high school in 1964 she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her two first charting albums on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show required an additional singer around this time. Parton got her first gig in 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry. It was not until 1974 when she made the decision to quit Wagoner's program as the popularity of her solo albums such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. Parton was a part of the group that split after the end of their partnership with Wagoner was the one to write"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and made it to Number. It was the first time that a song reached No.
